SV550 122mm F7 VS SV550 80mm F6-Explore More Surprises

We published the first public blog about SV550 last week, it is about why we still choose the FPL-51 triplet. In general, we refer to the opinions of customers who purchased SV550 80mm and SV503 series telescopes, kept the original characteristics of the structure, and make some improvements and developments for the large-aperture telescopes. This is our first large-aperture telescope. It needs to stand the test of the market. In the future, we will also develop better telescopes. At the same time, thank you for your attention and discussion. We will humbly accept your opinions and suggestions. For more detailed discussions, we will update the instructions after sorting them out.

Firstly, let's look at a comparison picture of SV550 122mm PLUS and  80mm!
sv550-2.jpg
Unlike the SV550 80mm, you may have difficulty lifting the SV550 122mm with one hand! Although it is twice as heavy, it is still suitable for medium-sized mounts. If the payload capacity of your equatorial mount weighs about 10kg, don’t worry, you don’t need to replace it to experience the joy of using a large-aperture telescope! This will save a lot of budget.

Compared with SV550 80mm, the focal length of 122mm will reach 857mm (122mmXf7), and the longer focal ratio will help the color correction of the image, and you will get clearer image resolution and higher image quality.
Why do we care so much about the aperture of our telescopes? Because it directly determines the size of the imaging resolution, the smaller the resolution means the higher the limit magnitude, at the same time, when the aperture is larger, the light-collecting area of the lens tube is larger, the higher the light entering degree, the higher the imaging brightness the better. This is one of the simple and straightforward criteria for judging the performance of a telescope, and it is also a very important first impression! Do you think the design met your expectations? Why not a larger caliber? Such as 127mm or 130mm. We have considered the weight and the difficulty of collocation design, and we hope to provide you with better solutions in the process of advanced shooting, not only about the telescope but also the whole set of equipment, don't forget, we are also developing our own mounts!

The information about the weight of the equipment is as below, and we also provide the weight reference of the accessories. This will make it easier for you to estimate the weight of your set.
If you plan to use ZWO's camera and smart box, the total weight may be around 11-12kg. These are just some data for reference, you can start planning your new equipment!

Yesterday, our SV550 122mm Global Experiencer testing plan ended! We have received many applications from you, thank you again for your attention and support, and on the 31st, we will announce the shortlist! Considering the actual situation of the application, in order to allow more people to experience our new telescope, this time we will consider launching the circulation evaluation plan, and you can also join this project!
For more details, we will communicate with candidates by email, please pay attention to check our news!

I'm looking forward to being able to purchase the 122mm. Hopefully, I can do that soon. I'm currently looking at similar scopes and would buy this one, if it was available. - Keep up the good work, Chris
