Two Feedbacks from Customers about MK105

Regarding the problems of spherical aberration and optical axis offset in the MK105 telescope reported by some customers, we provide some data and analysis of influencing factors

1. Spherical aberration

For the MK telescope, due to its structural characteristics, the biggest factor affecting spherical aberration is the processing accuracy of the meniscus lens at the front end. Since this lens is relatively large and thick, the stress release requirements for materials are relatively strict. The stress will be gradually released as time goes by. If the release is not sufficient, the surface shape will change, which will affect the imaging quality of the lens. But don’t worry, MK105 has undergone strict spherical aberration calibration during the assembly process, and the range of spherical aberration is controlled at a reasonable level in the industry. The following is a test report issued by an authoritative organization for reference. We have also updated the official website at the same time.  As for what the customer mentioned, the spherical aberration will improve when the part is covered with hands. This is normal in principle, because after covering with hands, it is equivalent to reducing the aperture of the light, and the spherical aberration will naturally improve significantly.
2. Optical axis offset
Compared with traditional refracting telescopes, the stability of the optical axis of the MK telescope is generally worse. Although we have done strict alignment and calibration of the optical axis before leaving the factory, the bumps and transfers during long-distance transportation may cause the optical axis of the mirror to shift. Therefore, When you receive the MK105 after a long time , you need to check whether the optical axis of the telescope is shifted firstly. If the optical axis of the telescope deviates, please calibrate the optical axis before using it. We are very happy to give you guidance.
We will continue to pay attention to some problems about MK105 and update and summarize in time. Welcome to give us feedback.
