SV227 OIII 5nm 2" Filter Narrowband Astronomical Photographic CCD Filter for Deep Sky

SKU: W9187DC-
US$ 149.99
  • The SVBONY Narrowband OIII filter is designed for nebula observation allowing 5nm bandwidth of light centered on a wavelength of 500.7nm through, and reducing the transmission of certain wavelengths of light, specifically those produced by artificial light including mercury vapor, and both high- and low-pressure sodium vapor lights and the unwanted natural light caused by neutral oxygen emission in our atmosphere;
  • OIII 5nm 2" Filter is designed to deliver 90% transmission at the 500.7nm line which provides you with well defined nebulae structures;
  • 300-1000nm wavelength range; the SVBONY OIII 5nm 2" Filter transmits a 5nm bandwidth of light that is centered at 500.7nm;
  • 2 inch mounted; the filter can thread directly into the 2 inch barrel of your telescope eyepiece.

Note: This OIII filter is NOT for use on the Sun, and also unsuitable for telescopes with a focal ratio below F/5.

5nm filters at a great value!

I switched to true mono imaging this summer, been using these filters for a few months now. Both myself and the members of my local astronomy club have been very impressed with what results these filters were able to produce. Way better value than other name brand and SVBONY spec their 5nm as a true FWHM measurement Compared to some amazon brand that's cheaper but look closely! the other amazon brand try to say 495-501 on their chart but if you look closely the FWHM on those chart seem closer to 10-15nm, those may work for visual, but not astrophotography.

A true OIII Filter that works awesome!

I bought the filter in 2 "for my Svbony SV503 102/714 refractor and my Skywatcher 250P Newton. The filter does exactly what it should. It lets the light of the ionized oxygen through between 495nm and 500nm. I tested it together with the Baader UHC-S filter. The Svbony OIII Filter emphasized the contrast on different nebulae more than the UHC. I noticed a difference in particular with the dumbbell nebula and the ring nebula. I was very pleased. I can absolutely recommend the filter for observation.

Features

1. SVBONY 2 inch OIII-CCD 5nm Narrow-Band filter for deep sky 2" mounted; can enhances the contrast between the target and the sky; allowing you to capture high-quality images even under the urban sky; suitable for lightly polluted urban areas and relatively dim launch nebulae;
2. 5nm Extra Narrowband Filter; the Oxygen III 5nm Extra Narrowband Filter transmits a 5nm bandwidth of light that is centered at 500nm and drastically reduces other transmissions; including wavelengths of light that are responsible for light pollution;
3. High-quality materials; the SVBONY 2" Filters are made glass import from germany that has been multi-coated with an ion-assisted deposition technology to ensure scratch resistance and stability on the central wavelength; or CWL;
4. High-level manufacturing process; the filter cell is made of lightweight;strong metal and is CNC machined; sand-blasted; black anodized; and then laser engraved; the result is a super thin filter cell that will produce a clear aperture of 45mm;
5. Powerful functionality; like all SVBONY filters that are designated as "CCD"; this OIII also blocks infrared wavelengths from 700nm to 1100nm so you don't need a separate IR-Cut filter; make your use more convenient.
