SV406P 20-60X80 ED Spotting Scope with WIFI Camera Birding Photography for Birding Festival

I wanted an ED spotting scope for wildlife viewing, but did not want to pay for something like a Swarovski since this was for occasional use. I also wanted an angled scope. The dual focusing wheel capability, the large wide lens bringing plenty of light and the zoom range make me very happy with my purchase. Also the build quality is superb. This is a GREAT scope forgetting the price.

I love this binocular. This is my first binocular and I didn't want to spend too much money, and this one exceeds all the criteria! I use it primarily for birding, and it has really helped me expand my identification range. I can identify waterfowl across the lake that I frequent. It also allows me to identify various sea ducks that are beyond the range of the binoculars. I have no problem with the weight, as I have carried it (and the tripod) for over 6 miles. I usually just carry the tripod over my shoulder and the binoculars on the tripod. I highly recommend this binocular to anyone who wants to expand their field of view but doesn't have the budget to go for a higher-end binocular.

I use this scope when visiting coastal reserves or large inland lakes. My first scan of the scene is with my SV202ED binoculars 10x42 which helps me to quickly find targets of interest. I then use the SV406P in optical mode to identify the bird, insect etc that is of interest to me. Occasionally even the superb optics are not good enough to resolve identification markings but I have found that taking an image with the SC001 makes identification easier and can be reviewed later for confirmation. I recently had the opportunity to directly compare the SV406P with a similar spec top of the range scope and was pleasantly surprised to find no optical differences. The owner of the scope was fiddling around trying to take pictures with his phone whilst I just swapped out the Zoom eye piece for the SC001 and started shooting. I recently took a picture of a Migrant Hawker Dragonfly which we were having difficulty identifying across a pond. It wasn't a prize winning picture but there was enough detail to identify the subject which I find the SC001 and SV406P combination excels at.

We are very pleased with this scope, which we have had for a year now. I bring the scope on birding trips to see the birds clearly at a distance. I also live very close to the beach in Southern California and I use the scope to watch the for whales, dolphins, and shore birds. We have gray whales that migrate from the north to Mexico in the south during the winter and the zoom works great for first spotting the whales and then zooming in to see details.
