SV46P 20-60x80 ED Spotting Scope with Dual Focus Ideal for Hunting

I needed a spotting scope for a moose hunt this past fall and i didnt have a ton of money to throw down for a viper scope and i came accross a comparison video of this spotting scope compared to a viper scope. This one seemed to perform just as good so i figured i would make the purchase. This scope came with me on a hike in moose hunt in Alaska. It was downpooring and the scope performed perfectly. It sat in the rain for 2 days with me in the elements and it didnt get any moisture inside. I decided to do a true test and i put the wet scope in the holder and in a sealed box and 2 days later when i finaly was home i took the spotting scope out and wiped the moisture off the outside lenses and there was no moisumture inside it at all. This is a great scope and performs better that one would expect for the price. The sight picture is very clear. I was able to watch a cow moose play in a pond, splashing around, from over 3 miles away.

If youre anything like me you researched 20+ spotting scopes ranging from $50-$2000 and decided the $2000 one is clearly worth it but you cant soend that much, you've also decided the $50 spotter is garbage. This is perfectly in between. Super clear glass. (I did invest in putting it on a good carbon fiber tripod for my back country bear hunt). This thing flew cross country and got bounced around a pack and the back of a truck for 7 days. No issues. Clear and sharp. I could tell you what clothes people were wearing at 2 miles and make out their faces. The eye relief could be more generous for people with glasses but trust me thats my only complaint about this. Absolutly worth the price. 20 degrees to 90 degrees, snow, mud, rain no issue, no fogging, no cloudiness. Is it a swarovski? No. But you know that. Is it what you need for 90% of back country hunts? Yes. Would def recommend for an elk, bear, or proghorn hunt. Maybe not ram or goats or muleys (if youre trying to pick out an antler at 1 mile). You know what I mean.

I have recently bought this scope, and I had a chance to do a direct comparison to the other - more budget option (Acuter 20-60x80). What I do like about SV46P is very low chromatic aberration, bright image even at x60 zoom, compact size (tube is surprisingly short) and superior dual-speed focus - it is the thing which really allows super precise focusing. What downsides can I see - to the edges image is loosing sharpness a bit (nothing major but if I need to find a downside - that would be the one), soft neoprene case is awesome (perfect fit!) but lacks a cover to the focus wheels - in transport I would feel more confident having them covered :)
