The SV550 APO triplet refractor is a compact refractor with 122mm aperture, f/7 focal ratio and 854mm focal length, a great travel telescope for astrophotography and observation. The APO refractor is an absolutely upgraded version of the SV550 80mm. The refractor gathers more light, and offers more clear and detailed images, suitable for deep sky photography and observation, for galaxies, nebulae, star clusters and even some fainter deep sky objects, due to the higher limiting magnitude.

SV550 122 F7 APO Refractor Telescope for Deep Sky Astrophotography

The OTA weighs only 6.44kg/ 14.18lb, easy to carry out when fitting into the carrying case. The length of the dovetail is  as high as 300mm, longer than the length of most dovetails. It can maintain the balance to the greatest extent, and it will be more convenient in the adjustment process. The entire tube rings have 26 screw holes + a mounting screw handle. Such tube rings with so many screw holes can be compatible with more equipment installations, like Smart WIFI device, guide scope, astronomy camera etc., meeting various needs of installations.

  • FPL51 Triplet > FPL53 Doublet - Just For Better Clarity

The SV550 122mm adopts a FPL-51 triplet apochromatic lens structure which contains one piece of ED glass. The triplet lens provides better correction of aberration and significantly reduces chromatic aberration and enhance the clarity and sharpness.

R&P Dual Speed Focuser

The gear ratio of the dual speed 2.5-inch toothed focuser is 1: 10, which makes it easy to achieve accurate focus. The dual speed focuser can provide two focusing speeds by using a set of co-axial knobs, for fast focusing and fine focusing.

Aluminium Alloy & CNC Machined

The SV550 refractor is designed with Aluminium Alloy & CNC Machined, which makes it have high quality for harsh environments and longer lifespan.

  For EAF Installation

This SV550 122 APO is compatible with EAF focuser. To install the EAF, first you should remove the screw completely as shown. Then look inside the hole and slowly rotate the focuser until you see another set screw inside the hole. This screw actually secures the focusing knob to the shaft. Insert a wrench and loosen this screw. Note that there may be two of these screws, so rotate the focusing shaft one turn to be sure. The focus knob will slide off after that.

Łów price for good telescope

I received the telescope yesterday. The telescope was packed very well with accessories. Tomorrow the weather is going to be good so I will check it.

Svbony 122mm grate scope

I received the telescope yesterday. Perfectly packed with accessories. First impression very positive, great glass. We'll see how the first photons fall.

Great scope for the price

I have been using this scope for almost half a year and you find my detail review on SVbony blog. To summarize, I find SVbony SV550 122mm APO as an excellent value-price solution. For your money, you will receive a very well manufactured and solid APO telescope with excellent mechanical machine as well as optics. The large aperture of 122mm provides high light-gathering capacity and resolution, both focal lengths options, 683 and 854 mm, using two potential SVbony flatteners, are optimal for most of the DSO targets. I recommend buying some of the telescope bundles, including at least a flattener/reducer, and eventually an SVbony dew heater band, a handle, a filter drawer and a guide scope, if you already do not have any. I must admit I am very satisfied and pleased with the scope.

Very Nice Scope for the Price !

It is a rather large 122mm aperture ApoChromat (see definition on Wikipedia) with excellent color correction. On a few good nights I was able to get a few images with it, just to test it out. I used a Skywatcher HEQ5 mount (an AVX would work just as well) and a RisingCam IMX571 camera. Pros : Excellent optical quality for the price Very well-made focuser, ring mounts and 0.8x reducer Complete accessories (finder mount, guider mount etc) Cons : This thing has a good size and is not light !

Very nice OTA, excellent for astrophotography with the corrector

The build quality is superb, the optics are bright and sharp, the focus mechanism is extremely solid and smooth. The entire assembly is much more solid that it appears to be in pictures. Definitely a higher end scope. Pretty thrilled with it so far. After getting some more clear nights boy this thing performs beyond expectations, I’m imaging with the ASI2600MM pro in mono with it and wow, pinpoint stars across the entire feild, no aberration noticeable at all. This scope is the deal of the century. If you’re on a budget and looking for a very high performance APO for astrophotography then it can’t be beat there’s nothing I’d complain about. I mounted it to a Losmandy rail to add room for power supplies and my imaging computer. I still haven’t had enough clear night to really push it to it’s limits but having taken some images under less than perfect conditions the results are impressive to say the least…

Love this telescope

I have been doing astrophotography for a little less than two years. I started out with an 8 inch Schmidt Cassegrain style telescope (SCT) but I wanted a telescope with a wider field of view. I decided to order the SV550 80 mm refractor telescope from Svbony and loved it. So when SVBONY came out with the SV550 122 mm telescope and I saw some video reviews, I decided to order one to replace the 8 inch SCT reflector. I couldn't be happier with a telescope. It is a little on the heavy side (14 lb/6.4 kg vs 12 lb/5.4 kg for the SCT) but it's not too much for a senior citizen like me to handle. It has a nice long dew shield that extends and retracts smoothly. I use the manual focuser with a Bahtinov mask as a focus aid. It dials in smoothly and maintains focus once set. With the 1.0x field flattener, the stars are sharp and round points of light all across the field of view. In comparison with the 8" SCT with a 0.63x focal reducer, the quality of the images has improved greatly. In comparison with the SV550 80 mm telescope, it has over twice the light-gathering capability, so I am able to get more detail in my images during a single night of photography. All in all, I am extremely happy with this telescope and expect to get many years of great images with it.

Outstanding

The scope is outstanding. Build quality is what you would expect from Svbony. Surprisingly light for the size. With a large front aperture, your camera setup on the back will be easy to balance. Another great product from a great company.

Very Scope for the Price !

Very well made, a solid piece of equipment made with quality Ohara Japan S-FPL51 ultra low dispersion glass. I coupled it with a solid Skywatcher HEQ5 mount and a Sony IMX571 chip 26Mp cooled deep sky camera.
